Upgrading to Astro 7: the short version
Astro 7 speeds up static output and simplifies islands — most content sites upgrade in minutes.
Astro 7 landed this week, and for content-driven sites like this one the upgrade is refreshingly boring. The content layer API is unchanged, so collections, markdown, and static output all work exactly as before.
What’s new
- Faster static builds — asset emission is parallelized end to end
- Simpler islands — one consistent
client:*behavior across frameworks - Cleaner config — several experimental flags graduated and old ones removed
The upgrade path
pnpm update astro@latest
pnpm astro upgrade
Then run your build and click through the key pages. If you were using experimental flags, check the migration notes — otherwise you’re done.
